Ukulele after school club

The challenges of the after school ukulele club this week are mostly to do with freezing cold fingers. So cold in fact it hurts when you play. Not deterred by this we put our ukes down, turned the CD up and played our "air ukuleles" really wild! 

We have been having so much fun playing the uke together. All the kids are complete beginners and over the last 4 weeks have made significant progress. We have been singing songs together, practising our strumming techniques, introducing new chords and of course doing the ukulele mexican wave!

Lantern time is here again!

So, it's that time of year again when the nights are drawing in and it's time to bring light into our lives.

 I have been working on annual lit processions for over 10yrs and since moving out of London I have been working on Wells Xmas Tide; a local winter celebration on the North Norfolk coast. Rather brilliantly Father Christmas arrives, every year, on the tide via speed boat! The Lanterns light the way along the quay and once he has reached land there are some spectacular fireworks by Booom!, a local pyro company. 

In previous years I have worked with the local primary school and community groups. This year I am helping the yr 7s at the High School create fairground inspired lanterns. As you can see from the photo they resembles a pile of sticks at the moment but hopefully in the next few weeks they will be transformed into beautiful illuminated creations!

This is from years ago, but have finally uploaded it onto YouTube from my ancient laptop. This short animation was a happy accident. My camera had been put onto burst mode. When I uploaded all the pictures onto my computer and flicked through them they played like a little animation. I was really excited by this and so put them into imovie and played around with it. I taught myself the basics through trial and error and was really happy with the results of my first attempt but as you can see never quite finished it hence the abrupt ending!
