Another wonderful morning at Norwich Puppet Theatre. The smell of the trees and leaves made this session a truly multi sensory experience. We created a woodland like no other; trees bejewelled with fairy lights, streamers and tinsel; bunting made from golden leaves; creatures lurking on the crunchy forest floor; light and shadow transforming the walls around us. These family sessions for 1 - 4 year olds are held monthly ( more or less) at Norwich Puppet Theatre, check their website for more coming up in the new year.
Everyone should have the opportunity, at least once in their lives, to get utterly covered in paint in joyous, spontaneous creative play!
The sounds of the sea were heard at Norwich Puppet Theatre today ( thanks Darren!) An enormous boat, big enough for us all, rose up out of nothing. Young and old worked together to create a ship full of delights, singing sea shanties as we went.
What a treat playing at Corpusty and Saxthorpe Toddler group last week. I took lights and boxes there for a special free play session bursting with creativity, fun and adventure. It was great fun to watch!
Last Thursday was the first meeting of Aycorn east, arts and young children regional network. I delivered a workshop alongside presentations by Charlottle Arculus of Magic Adventure and Joy Haynes of Norwich Puppet Theatre.
In the east of England we have a wealth of enthusiasm, expertise and appetite for high quality early years arts practice, across all art forms. This network will hopefully grow to include other venues, artists, nurseries and organisations with passion for this exciting and crucial sector. You can find Aycorn East on Facebook and Twitter to get updates on future events. This photo was taken near the end of my workshop. We are all lying on the floor looking up at the extraordinary "thing" we have just made. Tower workshops are not only a great way to work with young children but are a fantastic team building, ice breaking, mind opening activity for everyone. |
